Fresh lemonade, spiked or not, always refreshes and pleases my household and its guests during the summer months. Each year my children eagerly set up their stand to earn some summer spending money by rounding up neighbors and passerby visitors to grab some of their homemade drink. They claim it’s the best in town and I have to agree. After all, they did get the recipe from their mama 🙂 I make my lemonade using simple syrup as sweetener which gives the cooling drink a smoother and fresher taste. But, since I don’t like to add any hassle with the added ingredient I rely on my electric water kettle as the helping hand in keeping up with the summer lemonade demand, taking cold water to simple syrup in less than 5 minutes.
10 lemons, juiced
1 cup sugar
2 cups water
Optional: fresh mint
Using an electric kettle, boil the water and pour into a tall pitcher. Mix in the sugar until dissolved.
Add in lemon juice, ice and mint, if desired. Give it a stir and serve.
