Swedish Sausage Stroganoff

-POP

Here’s a stroganoff with a twist using simple sausages and extra spice to intrigue your palate and get your appetite going. It’s the perfect hardy meal for those days you might notice a chill in the air and just want something warm and tasty. (And don’t be fooled by its simple appearance, it’s a flavor explosion in sheep’s clothing.)  So regardless if you feel like a nice and simple, sit-down, family dinner, or just curling up on the couch with a bowl of this yumminess and watch a movie – you won’t be disappointed.

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 30-40 minutes

Serves: 5-6 people

Ingredients

1 onion – chopped

3 large carrots – chopped, about the same size as the onion

4-5 cloves of garlic – finely chopped

1 lb smoked sausages – diced or sliced depending on size and preference

2 beef stock cubes

2 cans of tomato sauce

1/2 cup heavy cream (can be substituted for half-and-half but you might need to add a little more)

2 tbsp mustard (I like Dijon, but choose after preference)

2 tbsp ketchup

Spices: Salt, pepper, curry powder, chili powder, paprika

Parsley for garnish

Directions

Set your Aroma rice cooker to Sauté then Simmer and add the onion, carrots and garlic.

Add all the spices to taste and sauté until onions are a little soft.

Add the sausage and beef stock cubes and sauté a few more minutes until they get a little color.

Add the tomato sauce, ketchup and mustard, and then stir.

Add the cream, stir some more, then close the lid and let the mixture simmer until done (approximately 25-30 minutes).

Enjoy your finished Swedish Sausage Stroganoff over some white or brown rice and garnish with parsley.

Tip!: A cheap and easy substitute for “nicer” sausages are hot dogs (it will still be tasty, I promise).

Tip!: Add some bell peppers and/or zucchini if you want more veg in your diet.
