Beyond the Spoon Chili & Beans

Beyond Spoon Plated 1

Tailgate parties can be so much fun but sometimes they are just not practical. Enter the idea of an at –home tailgate party! And while a big pot of chili would fit the bill, this “beyond the spoon” idea carries it even further by giving your guests some other options. Consider the appetizer version for those who want just a bite or just a bit more than a bowl full. Fill another bowl and surround it with lots of vegetables and tortilla chips for scooping. But don’t stop there, fill some potato skins or cornbread muffins as well. Go Team… and go beyond the spoon!

Beyond Spoon PREP2

Mix the beef with the 2 tbsp water, salt and baking soda and allow to sit for 20 minutes. (This will allow the beef to brown faster and stay juicy.)
Preheat Aroma 3-in-1 Grillet to 325º F, add olive oil and cook the onion until softened. Add the ground beef, stirring with a spoon to break into small pieces; continue stirring until well browned.
Reduce heat and stir in the garlic, and spices and cook for a few minute more or until fragrant. Add all remaining ingredients and stir well. Allow to simmer for at least 45 minutes. If needed, adjust the texture by adding small amounts of water or beer.
Garnish with chopped green onion, grated cheese or sour cream.
This can be made up to three days in advance, just reheat and enjoy!
