We all know about ‘beauty sleep’, but what about ‘beauty food’? Wouldn’t it be even better if it was a ‘detox’ food? Aloe vera is known as a beauty product, but it has benefits as a ‘detox superfood’ too! It looks like clear jello and is crisp with a very light flavor. So here’s an easy recipe that is a great resolution for 2017! Have it anytime you want something sweet and beautiful for you.
½ can aloe vera (I used a 15 oz can of cut pieces in light syrup)
1/3 cup water 5-6 oz Greek yogurt (plain or with fruit)
Optional: fruit toppings like blueberries, kiwi fruit, cranberries, or your favorite
Optional: ½ tsp soaked chia seeds (or more) as topping
Serves 1, or double the ingredients to serve 2
Total time: 20 minutes
Drain syrup from can (you don’t need that sugar) and place into inner pot of Aroma Mi Rice Cooker. Add water, secure lid, and select ‘white rice’ function. Set a timer for 10 minutes, or 15 minutes if ingredients are doubled (and soak optional chia seeds in about a tablespoon of water). This cooking step removes excess sugar (or any undesirable syrup) from the aloe vera.
When time is up, turn off cooker and open cover (beware of hot steam). Remove inner pot and drain excess water. Place aloe in bowl and allow to cool for 1-3 minutes. Add yogurt and your favorite toppings. Enjoy!
