Everyone loves banana bread, fresh from the oven and warm with a little butter on top. But waiting for it to set when all you want to do is eat seems to take forever. The solution? Banana bread pudding. All the flavors you love of a classic banana bread but the ability to eat hot out of the oven. And if you REALLY have got a lot of patience, make your own banana bread, allow to cool completely and use that for the cubes instead of French bread. 1/3 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup brown sugar
dash of nutmeg
dash of allspice
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
3 large eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 loaf French bread, cut into cubes
1 banana, peeled and sliced
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease your DoveWare casserole dish and set aside.
In a bowl, mix together the butter, sugar, nutmeg and allspice then set aside.
In a separate bowl, mix the milk, cream, eggs and vanilla. Dump the bread cubes into the egg mixture and fold gently until the cubes are evenly coated. Spread into the casserole dish. Spoon dollops of the butter and sugar mixture onto the bread, then swirl throughout. Arrange the sliced bananas on top
Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the custard is set and the top is a light golden brown. Cool slightly and scoop or slice to serve warm. Enjoy!
